donates anti-malaria drugs to Ebonyi

Managing Director of Healthcare Ltd, Nelson Maduabuchi, has
lamented the widespread and destructive effects of malaria
to the liver of people in the tropics including Nigeria due
to the prevalence of mosquitoes.
The chief executive of the company in his address during the
launch and donation of Antecxin malaria drug to Ebonyi State
Government in Abakalika regretted that malaria has become
one of the leading killer diseases in Nigeria where, according
to the World Health Organization (WHO), malaria has plagued
humanity from ancient times and still haunts 40 per cent of
the world’s population today.
“The disease infects over 500 million
people every year and kills well over one million annually
and in Nigeria, it is estimated that the disease kills about
300,000 people annually.” He said that it was against
this back-Drop that the federal government launched a full-scale
war against the deadly disease and has encouraged and funded
research works into the invention of the drugs that would
effectively dislodge the malaria scourge.
Mduabuchi observed that as a corporate citizen and in an effort
to give back to the society, the company undertook series
of researches that culminated in Artecrin, “a novel
and malaria drug which we are launching today in Ebonyi State.”According
to him, “Artecxin is a brand of Artemisinin based combination
thereby,” a drug widely acclaimed for its efficacy in
the total cure of all resistant forms of malaria.
Some other special qualities of the drug, he noted, “is
that it has a short treatment course which ensures that patients
comply with their medications as prescribed, high efficacy
rate which is pegged at % percent and its little side effects.”
The Commissioner for Health, Ebonyi State, Dr Sunday Nwangele
described the donation as a wonderful gesture from the company,
adding that the state government was poised in medicating
the malaria and HIV/AIDS scourge that have been high in the
state.

Limited says it has earmarked over N50million for a new anti
malaria drug ARTECXIN, a brand of Artemisinin based combination
therapy (ACT) to be distributed for free to both government
and private-owned health intuitions in the 36 states of the
federation.
Speaking while donating drugs worth (N2M) to Ebonyi State
government, the managing director of O,Nell Pharma and Healthcare
Ltd, Nelson Maduabuchi, said that the donation was their own
contribution towards fighting the scourge of the malaria parasites
in the society. He emphasized malaria as a leading killer
disease in Nigeria annually as a result of the disease.
